Schools in Ireland invited to enter 2022 Mission Possible mental health awards

We are excited to invite primary and secondary schools across Ireland to celebrate their mental health activities through our 2022 Mission Possible awards.

Walk in My Shoes (WIMS) is excited to invite primary and secondary schools across Ireland to celebrate their mental health activities through our 2022 Mission Possible school achievement awards.

Celebrating schools

Celebrating schools

2022 marks the sixth year of the Mission Possible awards, which recognise the important and innovative work that schools are doing to raise awareness of mental health. From Wellness Weeks and kindness campaigns to digital detoxes or mindfulness practices, we’re celebrating all the initiatives taking place in our schools to support young people’s wellbeing and bring an end to mental health stigma.

Teachers can now enter their schools into the awards, with the deadline open until 5pm on Friday, 25 March 2022. Initiatives can be entered under one of three categories – which you can learn more about below – with one primary and one secondary school taking top place under each category.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in April. Each winning school will receive a cash prize of €600, with every school that enters receiving a certificate.

Choosing a category

Choosing a category

Mission Possible offers three different categories for your school’s mental health initiatives.

Best Standalone Project

The Best Standalone Project award shines a light on once-off projects to promote positive mental health. Examples include a Wellness Wall where students can pin up their positive mental health messages, or the setting up of a new Student Wellbeing Committee.

Most Creative Idea

The Most Creative Idea award celebrates fun and inventive ideas which open up conversations around mental health, such as Wellbeing Clubs or social media campaigns – we’re looking for the kinds of ideas that think outside the box but have a big impact!

Best Programme Activity

The Best Programme Activity award recognises innovative mental health programmes and initiatives which involve a calendar of mental health events or activities. This could be a Wellness Month which includes everything from mindfulness classes and an art competition to a mental health awareness day.

If you have any questions on which category is best suited to your initiative, please email our Campaign Manager, Amanda McArdle, at amcardle@stpatsmail.com.
