National Parents Council

The National Parents Council (NPC), in partnership with St Patrick's Mental Health Services (SPMHS), offers training programmes for parents, guardians and carers.

There are two courses available: one can be run in-person in local schools, while the other can be accessed online by parents, carers or guardians at any time of their choosing.

An online training module for parents, guardians and carers from SPMHS and the NPC, Supporting Parents to Support Their Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing, is available. This is an on-demand, interactive resource that addresses the key factors that influence children’s mental health and wellbeing.

In-person training

In-person training

The in-person programme from the NPC and SPMHS, Supporting Parents to Support Their Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing, supports parents to promote and foster positive mental health and wellbeing in their children. The programme also explores how building resilience in children helps them to manage and cope with the day-to-day stresses of life as they occur. This is a training programme for parents which can be run in local schools.

Parents who attend this session will:

  • Explore the factors that influence mental health and wellbeing in their child
  • Learn how to build and nurture resilience within their own child
  • Be given tips on how best to support positive mental health and wellbeing in their child.
