Helping children with 'reboarding' in the COVID-19 era

Dr Colman Noctor explores how we can support children and young people as they rejoin more of life's usual activities as COVID-19 measures and concerns continue.

Moving through the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of worry, with children and young people feeling the loss of and uncertainty around changes to their school, social and family lives.

As we approach the next stages of our COVID-19 response, especially the the return to school, many children and young people may be experiencing renewed feelings of anxiety.

Dr Colman Noctor, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with St Patrick's Mental Health Services, joined Kathyrn Thomas on RTÉ Radio 1 to discuss ways in which we can support children through these new developments. He explained how fear and anticipation of the unknown can be a driver of these feelings, and gave practical tips on how we can best deal with these as children and young people as they rejoin more of life's usual activities.
