Screen Ireland partnership

We are delighted to announce a partnership with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland (Screen Ireland), the national agency for the Irish film, television drama, animation and documentary industry, for an incredible competition. Our partnership with Screen Ireland will help us to amplify our mental health message across the exciting medium of filmmaking, as well as showcasing emerging Irish talent within the sector.

Winning short film entries have the opportunity to be featured on Screen Ireland’s Short Film Player, a curated selection of new, emerging and established Irish talent across short filmmaking.

We’re inviting secondary school students, Youthreach and Further Education and Training (FET) learners to create short films and TikToks that convey a positive mental health message for the chance to win prizes including a €1,000 cash prize for the winner of each category and a €500 cash prize for runners-up in each category.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students, whether you have an interest in film making, are a dab hand at making TikToks or you have an interest in gaining experience in the short film world and making film industry connections. Learn more about Frame of Mind here.

Paul Gilligan, Chief Executive Officer, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services said “This year marks the 10th anniversary of our annual Walk in My Shoes Frame of Mind competition, an initiative which aims to tackle mental health stigma and to empower young people to think positively about mental health through the medium of film. Over the last decade, we have seen hundreds of budding filmmakers shining a spotlight on positive mental health through the Frame of Mind initiative, and we are delighted to announce a partnership with Screen Ireland to celebrate this milestone anniversary.”

“Exploring mental health through film can play a vital role in challenging mental health stigma and in increasing understanding of mental health. We look forward to working with Screen Ireland to empower young people to harness their creativity through films that inspire conversation and further amplify the importance of positive mental health.”
Désirée Finnegan, Chief Executive, Screen Ireland added “Screen Ireland is delighted to support WIMS and the 10th year of the Frame of Mind competition, that aims to improve mental health awareness and provides an opportunity for the next generation of filmmakers to share their stories on screen”
