Mental Health Information Day for Teachers and School Staff

In order to protect against the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Walk in My Shoes (WIMS) has postponed its second Mental Health Information Day for Teachers and School Staff, scheduled to take place on Friday, 17 April 2020.

In order to protect against the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Walk in My Shoes (WIMS) has postponed its second Mental Health Information Day for Teachers and School Staff, scheduled to take place on Friday, 17 April 2020.

In the best interests of the health of all its service users, staff and visitors, St Patrick’s University Hospital (SPUH), the venue for this training day, is currently preparing contingency measures against coronavirus. SPUH is a working hospital, with over 240 inpatient beds, hundreds of people attending programmes and appointments on a daily basis, and hundreds of staff providing care and treatment: at all times, its team takes every necessary precaution to best safeguard the health and safety of all who come through its doors.

As such, we have taken the decision to postpone the training day to protect attendees of the event and their contacts, as well as service users and staff of SPUH, by preventing any unintentional transmissions of the infection. We will instead aim to reorganise the training, designed to empower teachers and school staff working with children and young people to develop greater understanding of mental health, at a later date in the year. Anyone who has registered for the event will receive a full refund of their ticket.

We thank you for your patience and understanding with this decision. If you would like information on this, please contact Amanda McArdle, WIMS Project Manager, on 01 249 3632 and at info@walkinmyshoes.ie.
