On World Mental Health Day, Vogue Williams explains why the gym is the only fix for her anxiety, we hear about the latest dance therapy hitting Irish shores, we’ve live music from Picture House and we hear why the summer blockbusters bombed in the cinema – could it be down to mental health?

Then, rugby star Jenny Murphy talks about holding the ball in a man’s world, while former professional footballer Kevin Kilbane shares his own mental health journey.

We get creative with Irish jewellery designer Chupi, get mindful in the woods with author Hugh O’Donovan an get personal with Ronan Keating’s big sis Linda! She drops by to share a charity idea close to her heart.

Wednesday 11th Oct

The turkey is back and this time he’s bringing a comedy chick! At 11am Dustin is all in a flap over his me co-host comedienne Alison Spittle. Not only will they be chatting about her newest comedy show on RTE but fellow comedians Davey Reilly and Kevin McGahern will be sharing a few laughs too!
At 1pm Brent Pope finds out about the good mood food and how social media is the last thing on one 18 year old girl’s mind.
Then at 3pm weather presenter Nuala Carey is forecasting great things for her show when she chats to famous chef Richie Wilson followed by an interview with the bald priestess!
We’ve Fair City boys Eric Lalor and Dave O’Sullivan in the hot seat from 5pm, while there’s live music, live fashion and even live doggies in studio after 7pm!

Thursday 12th Oct

The Fair City boys are back! Eric Lalor and Dave O Sullivan went down a storm on radio and so they’re back at the crack of dawn to wake us up laughing. Hear them from 7am when they round up the news, catch up on Eco wellness and even sample some poetry!
Then the actor who starred in the Good Wife will be behind the mic with his lovely on screen wife Anna Daly – it’s only the magnanimous Simon Delaney from Saturday am on TV3! They’re chatting with Aussie comedian Damian Clarke about why he loves Ireland, Odlums lady Catherine Leydon shares her secret recipes for happiness and a young man who has penned his own personal song about depression serenades the WIMS team with what’s sure to be a heart warming tearjerker!
But we’re not afraid of tears here on walk in my shoes fm, nor are we afraid to talk about mental health which is why we’ll be finding out about CBT for anxiety, tips for panic attacks and even why art therapy is more than just colours on a page.

The last day of Walk in my Shoes radio, we are signing off the airwaves in style!

Today FM's Alison Curtis brings her Canadian twang to WIMSFM from 'a-boot' 11am and she's got a brilliant line up from anxiety with Caroline Foran to the power of now with a mindfulness guru. How 'a-boot' that, eh?

Actor and farmer at heart Paddy Courtney chats with a female movie director who is making waves in Hollywood. No really, her latest movie will 'sea' her go far! And the lovely Louise Lennox shares her happiest recipes, plus meet the muscle man who has a big heart as he shares his mental health journey.

Then she was the young people's presenter on RTE who fell for a Kodaline front man - Diana Bunici lends us her Muldovian tones for the afternoon when she talks to Rick O'Shea about books - including her own "The Pursuit of Awesome". Plus find out how baby wearing boosts mental health!

Following that, the Snapchat star who just won Celebrity Operation Transformation James Patrice is on air for all the 'Mauras & Dymphnas' listening to WIMS and he's sure to crack us up so listen live from 5!

Alison Curtis is Presenter and Producer of Weekend Breakfast on Today FM Saturdays from 8am and Sundays from 7am
She moved from Canada in 1999 and landed soon after on to the then very new Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show. She worked as a researcher until 2002 when she became the Producer of the show and remained there til 2008. During that time Alison started presenting the successful indie music show The Last Splash which earned her 4 nominations for Best DJ at the Meteor Music Awards. In 2008 Alison become a full time presenter for the station and has grown her Saturday Breakfast show to the 3rd most listened to show on the station. She currently appears on TV3 and writes for mummypages.ie

Aoibheann McCaul

Aoibheann McCaul is an actor, best known for her roles as Caoimhe Dillon in Fair City and Ciara in comedy mockumentary Hardy Bucks, and has appeared on stages across Dublin, and as far as California. Aoibheann is a radio rookie, but has enjoyed presenting a number of shows on LMFM, and can’t wait to get involved with Walk in My Shoes radio!

Seen on our TV screens, most recently presenting segments for BBC’s The One Show, Ciara Whelan and Jon Slattery are best known for galavanting around the world on TV3s The Holiday Show. This presenting duo are also a real-life couple and when they’re not traveling the globe, or running their production company, they can be found at home in County Kildare, where Jon is well and truly outnumbered with daughters Bo (3) and Edie (1) and all four female cats!

Dr Colman Noctor

Dr Colman Noctor is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working with children with mental health problems. Colman completed his Doctoral research looking at the impact of technology on mental health and is the best selling author of Cop On, which is a parenting book for a technological age. Colman is a regular contributor to print media and featured on the television documentaries ‘We need to talk about porn’ and ‘Making Ireland Click’. As well as being a guest on WIMS Radio for the last number of years, Colman also regularly contributes to the Parenting Slot on the Moncrieff Show On Newstalk and is the resident Child Psychotherapist for the Mental Health Slot On Drive@5 On Q102.

Jenny Greene, one of Ireland’s most successful DJs, presents the biggest dance show on Irish radio every Saturday night on RTE 2fm. Her Electric Disco Tour is the most in-demand club booking in the country.
Jenny started djing very early in life, getting her first set of decks at the age of 12. She learned her craft on vinyl and hanging around Dance pirate radio station Pulse FM after school. Her first big break came at the age of 15 as the warm up DJ in The Palace Nightclub in Dublin on Saturday nights.
Then at 17 Jenny was given her own weekly dance column in The Sunday World newspaper. That same year she became the youngest DJ on radio landing the Weekend Breakfast Show on Dublin station FM104.
In 2003 Jenny earned herself a place in The Guinness Book Of Records when she broke The World Record for The Longest DJ Set playing continuously for 75 hours.
Jenny made the move to the national broadcaster in 2007. She arguably presents one of the biggest dance shows in the country The Electric Disco on Saturday nights from 8-10pm on RTE 2FM
In 2009 Jenny released the hugely successful ‘The Electric Disco’ compilation album through EMI records, an unmixed double CD of Jenny’s Electric Disco favorites from her personal record collection.
In 2011 ‘The Electric Disco’ picked up the ‘Best Radio Show’ award at the Irish Dance Music Awards in Dublin.
While continuing to host The Electric Disco Jenny also co-hosts The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene weekday mornings on RTE 2FM from 10-1pm.
In September 2016 Jenny teamed up with The RTE Concert Orchestra for what turned out to be one of the most talked about gigs at Electric Picnic. Such was the demand following the festival they went on to play 2 sold out headline shows at Dublin’s 3 Arena in November. With 2 further sold out e shows in The Marquee Cork this June and Galway Arts Festival in July. Jenny returns to the stage with The RTE Concert Orchestra Dec 15th and 16th at the INEC Killarney.

Laura Woods

Laura Woods is part of the presenting team at weekends on SaturdayAM and SundayAM.
She has also presented IrelandAM for TV3 and Renovation Nation. She has been with TV3 for 5 years and previously she was with RTE for 11 years, presenting a wide selection of programmes; The World Poker Championships, The Trump Card, Big Money Game, Winning Streak, National Lotter Draws, Festival of World Cultures, the Cafe and many more.
She also contributed to Will Leahy’s show on 2FM for 5 years.
As a graduate of Sociology and French at Trinity, she was delighted to be a student on the first ever year of the Post Graduate Diploma course in CBT which was run by Trinity and St Patrick’s University Hospital.

I work as a Digital Presenter and Content Editor for the Daily Mail’s newest offering – a news, sport and entertainment site called Extra.ie.
For ten years I worked in radio as a Broadcast Journalist with Newstalk, TodayFM, RTE and 98FM and have also contributed to many TV panel show and up until last year presented my own TV show on Irish TV.
This is my third year presenting for WIMS radio and I am looking forward to getting back behind the mic on Oct 11th for what looks like it will be the biggest and best year yet!

Stephen Byrne is an Irish vlogger and television personality. He currently presents TwoTube on RTÉ Two and Weekenders on RTÉ 2fm.

Alison Canavan

Alison Canavan

Alison Canavan is an award-winning author of wellness book “Minding Mum”, a health and wellness coach, NLP Practitioner, daily meditator and motivational speaker.

Helping people to join the dots with their health and wellbeing is Alison’s primary goal and passion which led her to create her new show The Full 360 series, the first show of its kind that looks at connecting all aspects of wellbeing.

She recently spoke at The Mindful Life Conference in Washington in April 2017 and is currently studying mindfulness at UCLA in America. She writes a very popular weekly wellness column called ‘NIRVANA’ in The Sunday Independent and a column in Positive Life Magazine. Alison is an award-winning writer and comedian. She is currently working on a comedy project with Deadpan Pictures.
Her RTÉ Comedy Bites series of sketches were very well received. She was team captain on the panel show Choose or Lose for RTÉ 2.
For radio, she is a weekly contributor to The Right Hook on Newstalk every Friday and live-blogged the most recent elections for the station. She has her own chat show style podcast, The Alison Spittle Show with guests such as Aidan Power and Kevin McGahern.
She has performed at numerous festivals including the Vodafone Comedy Festival at the Iveagh Gardens, Body & Soul, Electric Picnic and Kilkenny Cat Laughs.
Alison is a columnist for headstuff.org and formerly the University Observer. Her article Why can’t all lads be sound like Hozier gained national attention. She performed at the Mountains to Sea Festival, Dun Laoghaire for The RTE Book Show.

Dustin the Turkey

For over twenty five years Dustin has being firmly ensconced in the Irish entertainment landscape as the nation’s favourite chancer. Dustin first appeared on the Den with a level of success far beyond that of any of any other TV character Dustin has reaped rewards that are usually reserved for major rock stars with eleven chart topping singles and albums, countless sold out live shows, merchandise and massive TV ratings. Dustin also represented Ireland at the 2008 Eurovision in Serbia. A long campaigner for charities in 2010 Dustin was made an official UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. In his time Dustin has been an usual political figure, out-polling official candidates in two presidential elections(Dustin still hopes one day to bring the DART to Dingle).
Dustin is delighted to be taking part in Walk in my shoes.

Dublin – born, RTE Weather & National Lottery Presenter, Nuala Carey is delighted to be joining the team for the second consecutive year to support WIMS.
It’s been a busy year for her since last September … co – presenting some ‘Winning Streak’ programmes with Marty Whelan and co – hosting the ‘ Today Show’ with Daithi O’ Se.

After graduating from UCD with a BA in English and Sociology, her initial job in the media was presenting traffic reports for AA Roadwatch on RTE’s Radio 1, so she is really looking forward to returning to this medium and sharing the microphone with some great guests.

Nuala is relishing the chance to take on the challenge of co – hosting 2 hours of live radio and her plan is to bring some afternoon ‘sunshine’ to WIMS.
She would encourage people to get in touch with the show ( but apologises in advance that she cannot give you next week’s Lotto numbers! or forecast better weather !).
Nuala promises to play lots of uplifting music and hopes you will enjoy listening to the programme, mindful that the object of WIMS is to create awareness around ‘Mental Health’ issues.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and N.U.I.G. Lecturer with 18 years experience of working therapeutically with children and families. I am very passionate about promoting wellbeing and increasing awareness of mental health issues, which I spread through my advocacy work, public speaking and media contributions. Recently I was honoured to be chosen as Mental Health Lead on the A Lust for Life Board. Last year I hosted “Mental Health Laid Bare” on Dublin City FM, which provided a platform for guests to share their stories of mental health and tools for wellbeing. Having been a guest on WIMS radio in 2016, I am delighted to be part of the team as a presenter this year as it provides such a valuable platform to spread a message of support to those who struggle with their mental health and their families.

Shay Byrne is the well known host RTÉ Radio 1’s Rising Time. He has been the voice of RTÉ’s Winning Streak for the last 7 years and is also Radio 1’s Eurovision commentator! Shay is married with 3 young children. Over the years in his role as a reporter and presenter he has covered many issues relating to parenting and mental health and will this year take on the annual Paris to Nice cycle in aid of various charities.

Tommy Martin works as the presenter on TV3’s Champions League football as well as being one of the presenters on Saturday AM and Sunday AM and is also a columnist for the sports website the42_ie.

Anna Daly is a TV presenter and anchors the National TV Breakfast shows, Saturday AM and Sunday AM on TV3. This week saw Anna launch the brand new property show, ‘Dream House’ which aired in Primetime on TV3 and which she presented alongside Darren Kennedy. Anna is the Mum of 3 little boys, a columnist and a brand ambassador for various brands including Mothercare and Seat cars.

Bláthnaid Treacy has been a regular on RTE for several years now, hosting entertainment shows such as Two Tube, The Electric Picnic Show, The EBBA’s, The RTE Choice Music Prize and most recently, the behind the scenes series of Dancing With The Stars; Can’t Stop Dancing. You can also hear her on Friday nights on RTE 2FM counting down the top 30 songs on the National Chart Show.

Corina Grant-Doyle has been in the fashion industry for over 20 years. Now she is a makeup artist as well as a TV stylist, columnist and Transition Year tutor. Along with Rebecca Horan, the two girls work together on their blog rebeccaandcorina.com and run the Transition Year workshops for teenage girls dealing with all aspects of life from life skills to fears to body image.

Eric Lalor

Eric Lalor’s first foray into comedy was a bit unusual. In 2006, as one of the participants of RTÉ Two’s Des Bishop’s Joy In The Hood.
Eric is a regular act at the prestigious Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival, as well as playing the Electric Picnic, Galway Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Portlaoise Halloween Howls and Iveagh Gardens Festivals as well as being invited to perform at the very first ever London Irish Comedy Festival in Oct 2012.
In 2008 Eric wrote and performed his first solo show, The Lalorpalooza Show, which earned him rave reviews and a sold-out night at Axis, Ballymun. In 2009 he embarked upon his first nationwide tour with fellow comedian Andrew Stanley. He also toured with his second solo show, Here! No Evil which again was met with great reviews before teaming up with Gearóid Farrelly for The Chalk and Cheese Tour and being the warm up act for live TV including The Late, Late Show and Deal or No Deal. He has been a panelist on The Craig Doyle Show on RTE2. More recently, he has come to the attention of TV producers as an actor and played Cathal Spillane in Fair City. He won the Best Actor Award in the 2017 London Ealing Festival for his role in In The Valley of the Moon.
Eric is a regular contributor to Joe.ie and presented the Euro 2016 Live with Kieth Andrews on Radio Nova.

Laura Canavan-Hayes is a writer and actress, who lives in Dublin with her husband and little son. She is currently developing several TV series having started out writing for theatre, and is excited to be creating some edgy, female-led drama at the moment. Laura is delighted to be back co-hosting a show with her sister, Alison, in what is always a dynamic, fascinating and thought-provoking week of radio for the brilliant and hugely important charity Walk In My Shoes.

Award-winning, Dublin-based, freelance TV/radio producer/director/presenter with almost 30 years full-time broadcasting experience, both in Ireland and the UK.
Also a regular blogger at his award-winning Off Message about all aspects of the media.

Dr. Sinéad Lynch

Dr. Sinéad Lynch

Dr. Sinéad Lynch is a Counselling Psychologist and qualified psychotherapist working in South Dublin.
With a passion for positive mental health, Sinéad graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She also has a H.Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin City University, a B.A in Psychology from University College Dublin and an M.Sc. from Dublin Institute of Technology.
Sinéad produced a documentary for RTÉ on ‘mindfulness’ with director Birthe Tonseth called ‘The Walk Of Life’. This was part of the ‘Would You Believe’ series and was kindly coordinated by Linda Keating from the Marie Keating Foundation, with whom Sinéad regularly contributes her time.
In her ‘spare’ time you can see Sinéad on TV3′s ‘Saturday AM’ & ‘Sunday AM’ discussing mental health topics such as anxiety, happiness and mindfulness. Sinead is producing the Walk in My Shoes Radio station this year and has been involved since it’s inception 5 years ago. She is looking forward to also co-presenting this year with Tommy Martin, Brent Pope and Paddy Courtney.

Trevor Keegan

Trevor Keegan

Trevor Keegan has worked in various roles in TV and radio over the last 20 years. He was formerly a presenter and showbiz correspondent for the Afternoon Show on RTE 1 from 2004-2009. He has also produced a number of high profile shows such as the documentary From Boom to Maternity, Vogue Does Home and Away and he was a casting producer on the reality series, Connected. His most recent work will air in December on RTE – We Won the Lotto looks back at 30 years of the National Lottery in Ireland and meets winners who went public to find out how their wins impacted their lives afterwards.
Trevor is also currently undertaking a Masters degree in TV and Radio journalism
