St. Patrick’s Mental Health Foundation

St. Patrick’s University Hospital exists because of ONE man’s will. Dean Jonathan Swift, one of Ireland’s greatest writers and author of Gulliver’s Travels, left his legacy to establish St. Patrick’s University Hospital, now Ireland’s largest, independent not-for-profit mental health service provider.

St. Patrick’s Mental Health Foundation fundraises on behalf of St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services, Ireland’s largest, independent not-for-profit mental health service provider.  The Foundation supports the vision of St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services of a society where all citizens are given the opportunity to live mentally healthy lives.

Making our vision a reality relies on the generosity and support of the community. We are profoundly grateful to all our donors for the support shown over the years.

Funds raised by the Foundation will help St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services to:

  • Provide greater access to mental health care
  • Support prevention initiatives and anti-stigma campaigns
  • Carry out research into the causes, treatment and prevention of mental illness
  • Develop new and enhance existing hospital facilities

In 2012 St. Patrick’s Mental Health Foundation launched Walk In My Shoes – a national mental health fundraising and awareness campaign. The initiative’s meaning is simple: to understand what someone who suffers from mental illness is going through, we need to walk in their shoes. We are very grateful to all who supported our campaign so far, raising funds and awareness and helping remove the stigma that prevents people from seeking help.

Walk in my Shoes is a national mental health fundraising campaign providing mental health information, support and services to people in communities throughout Ireland. Walk in My Shoes empowers people across Ireland with mental health difficulties to speak up and seek help early by promoting positive messages of mental health and recovery.

Walk In My Shoes calls on secondary schools, universities, corporate Ireland, clubs, associations and individuals across Ireland to support mental health services at St. Patrick’s.
